President Jokowi Inaugurates Ancol Sentiong Pump Station Together with Acting Governor

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono accompanied President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo inaugurating the development of the Ancol Sentiong Pump Station, North Jakarta, on Monday (12/11).

This development was realized through the synergy of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry (PUPR) with the Jakarta Provincial Government.

On that occasion, he stated, the Ancol Sentiong Pump Station is one of the flood control infrastructures that can reduce risks and reduce flooding covering an area of 879 hectares in seven sub-districts in North Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and East Jakarta areas.

Construction of Two Pump Houses in Duri Kepa Accelerated

Those seven sub-districts were namely Pademangan, Tanjung Priok, Kemayoran, Cempaka Putih, Johar Baru, Matraman, and Senen.

"I express my thanks to the President and the PUPR Ministry's Ciliwung Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) for developing the Ancol Sentiong Pump House. The Jakarta Government is committed to continuously contribute and cooperate with the Ministry of PUPR," he expressed, in the Jakarta Government's press release.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for carrying out the construction of flood control facilities and infrastructure for Jakarta, such as Sukamahi Dam and Ciawi Dam, East Flood Canal (KBT) Ciliwung River waterway, as well as the construction of coastal embankments on the coast of Jakarta.

In the meantime, the President stated the Ancol Sentiong Pump Station is the largest pump station in Indonesia, which was built to reduce flooding in seven sub-districts in Jakarta. He also explained several flood control infrastructure that had been completed, such as Sukamahi Dam, Ciawi Dam, and Ciliwung River Waterway. The Ciliwung River normalization is also continuing with the remaining 17 kilometers of work.

"Today, the Ancol Sentiong Pump Station construction, which cost Rp 481 billion, has been completed. Hopefully, with the completion of flood control infrastructure in the upstream, middle, downstream, and in Sentiong, flooding in Jakarta can be reduced by up to 62 percent," he uttered.
